Privacy policy

What we collect when you contact us, why we hold it, and how to get it removed.

Who we are

Home Survey Solutions Ltd ("we", "us") is an independent surveying practice based at 397 Northdown Road, Cliftonville, Margate, Kent CT9 3PE. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What we collect

When you use the enquiry form on this site we collect your name, email address, telephone number (if you give one), the address of the property you are enquiring about, and anything you write in the message field.

When you instruct us to carry out a survey we will also hold the information needed to do that work — correspondence, the report itself and any related documents.

Why we use it

To answer your enquiry and provide a quotation. To carry out surveying work you have instructed. To keep records we are required to keep as a RICS Registered practice, and for our own insurance and legal purposes.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have specifically asked us to.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to instruction are deleted within 12 months. Survey files and reports are retained for 15 years, which reflects professional indemnity and limitation-period requirements for surveying work.

Who we share it with

Only where necessary: our email provider, our professional indemnity insurers and professional advisers, and where we are legally obliged to. Where a survey requires access we will contact the estate agent or vendor, sharing only what is needed to arrange the appointment.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete data where we have no continuing reason to hold it, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise any of these rights, call 07411 611369 or write to us at the address above. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
